Indica vs Sativa vs Hybrid. What Are They and What Are Their Effects?

When I smoked pot many years ago, nobody told me there were different strains and each will affect you differently. Fast forward to the present and we will tell you about the differences between the 3 major cannabis strains…Indica, Sativa and Hybrid.

  1. Indica: Known by some cannabis users as “in da couch,” Indica strains deliver a relaxing and calming effect. This makes it a great choice for users who want help with sleep, pain management or tired muscles after a hard day’s work. Generally, these fall on the milder side of psychoactive scale because of a higher CBD to THC ratio. In other words, you’ll generally experience a relaxed state.
  2. Sativa: Known by many cannabis users as “satty,” or “daytime bud” referring to its energizing effect. Contrary to Indica, Sativa strains generally have a higher THC to CBD ratio. You guessed it, this means they tend to make you feel more buzzed.
  3. Hybrid: Hybrid strains are a combination of Indica and Sativa. Most look to offer the relaxation associated with Indica and the energy associated with Sativa.

Knowing what I know now, the strains I smoked had to be Indica and Indica-dominant because they made me feel way, way laid back. The perfect recipe for every person is probably out there but you’ll have to test them out to find the best ratio for you!
